When was filming, really need glasses that doesnt give lights reflection or wear contact lenses.. also need to think about clothes - no branding - also must be plain colours dark so that the audience can see the signer hands.

Need to get feedback from the focus group.

Only audio to add on and make it sync with others, and subtitles...can do subititles i think...try that tomorrow.

Chroma key - quite not there but almost need practice this more and how can make it more subtle ...

background need to think about this as at the moment bit busy...

Composition - Research and Proposal Project

Today I am reading about Composition from Reading Images - The grammar of visual design by kress and leeuwan.

Need to think about the composition how it would work in my project and to able to engaged the audience when watching a video / film etc.

Visuals need to be combined with subtitles, image, voice and signer... how it would work, where it all would be in position into the composition and if able to see everything happening in the video clip like they do on TV.

This is where multi modal comes in...

This applies to when you are reading book, magazine, newspaper..

Example comes in here is background material could be anything another frame would be signer on top of the background...

Image/Identity and Research Proposal

As i was reading visual methodologies by gillian rose for my image and identity and came across this page 30 figure 1.4 sites, modalities and methods for interpreting visual materials, this is good way to use it for my research proposal and maybe in image and identity as well if i can work it way into it.

Books: image and identity

this is the one book been looking for which i have just found by accident at work while doing some research for work!

This book is really useful for my work and hoping to link to my 1500 word essay, it is called "Between a Rock and a Hard Place": the hearing world : the deaf community, edited by the Deaf Ex-Mainstreamer's Group, 2003, Biddles Ltd, kings lynn.

has various of stories of other people experiences of their life's in school, work etc.

Just started to read it so will give it more input when read a bit more.

collection of memories and things that my mum kept

This photograph shows all the collection that my mum kept since i went to osdal house school for the deaf, and i have them all now and keeping them.

It was impossible to submit all of these as it would be overflowing and lot a to show!

it also documents the hearing and speech tests involving boring and time-consuming visits to hospitals, which were a regular feature of my childhood. Not something I had any pleasure doing.

since I was a baby.I have always had to wear hearing aids

and these have affectedmy sense of ‘self’ throughout my life.

Hearing Aids and Phonic Ear

These are leaflets and magazines on Phonic Ear HC455, there were big, bulky and heavy to wear but we had to wear them at school every day but not at home, boy was I glad about that! When I got to my teens, I started to rebel about wearing these things even though they were doing their best for me try get best education etc. The other is magazine from RNID on hearing aid and other technology that could improve deaf life's.

technology - deaf - changed since 1985!

These are the technology that most deaf people use, it is changing fast now. As we now use mobile sms messages all the time, before the mobile and internet came out we had to go to deaf club to meet friends and find out what events were happening also relied on British Deaf News, which we still use today. But now deaf club is not a place to meet as we communicate via email, facebook, sms messages. But however we still need minicom, to communicate with hearing peers like sorting out bills etc. Telephone flashing light to let us know the phone is ringing. Vibrating alarm clock to wake us up, which we now have a few choices to have. also smoke alarm which is installed by fireman, to ensure that our lives are safe. This is linked to vibrating pad and flashing light also noise for other people to hear. Only downside of this is we cannot hear very well when it is time to change the batteries!

This is something i must do over the weekend and get it sorted also do some photography work and get art work ready for submission.

These are my old hearing aids. i am practising taking photos in photography studio or should i take them into natural environment like in garden, forest etc... something to think about.

They are kept in the box since I have been little girl. The box is very old now, don't see these boxes anymore maybe there are around.

Learning outcome:

Improve photography skills – which is ongoing – always learning new things all the time.

Software: Flash – learn how to make slideshow, make portfolio.

Portfolio.

End product – how can be displayed, health and safety issues, how much space got. (Want to have a similar to 3 Dimension to portray my identity e.g. an outline of my body front or back either photography or draw (if draw someone would have to do it for me unless there is another way), put photographs into the body of who I am.) Don’t want this to be like a Muppet?

Need to think of end product, as this is important part of project to able to produce the end product as not want to leave it till the very end of project then cannot do it.

Reading – improve and find to spend more time on reading, and find argument or supported ref to the theory work.

Slide show & Video clips

Have printed out some photos and created slide show using powerpoint and have converted it into movie.

When i insert the movie into slideshow in powerpoint it works fine but when converted it into movie it dosn't seem to work as seems to stop at the movie and stay there till last slide show.

Flash Slideshow

Really need to learn how to create slideshow in flash!

Need a crash course to learn this but this is my learning outcome for next semester as not used flash for long long time this is something need to come back to.
